Hey everyone!
Despite having less work than usual this week since my reading break starts tomorrow, I did not consume too much more media. It was a busy week in other ways, but overall a good week. Also so sorry for missing my Wednesday post, the days got away from, but we’re back to our regular schedule now!
Type of content consumed: tv, books, music
Special addition: Animal Crossing (3DS)
Television
*spoilers ahead for Heartland (season 19), Dancing with the Stars (season 34), Survivor (season 49), Love Life (season 1)
Heartland
This episode was a lot of fun, and I feel like it left a lot of things open for future episodes to expand on. For starters, we finally get to see Nathan and Caleb get along for longer than three seconds. As soon as Nathan walked up to Amy with three coffees, I knew he was trying to make peace with Caleb. I am really happy that we finally moved past their little feud because it’s obvious neither of them are going anywhere, so it’s nice to see them get along. Next, Katie made major strides in this episode with both her friendships and her hobbies. Honestly, I understand why River was so upset at Katie for choosing her reading over the rodeo, but at the same time, writing is Katie’s dream, so I felt bad for her. Then, in typical Heartland fashion, Katie was able to do both, which, though unrealistic, is heartwarming to watch. As I’m sure we all could have guessed, Dex got himself into quite some trouble in this episode since he lied so he could compete in the rodeo. It will be interesting to see how he makes it up to Jack, since this was a direct betrayal of trust.
Dancing with the Stars
I once again did not watch live, but this time I did not get spoiled. Respectfully, I am happy to see that Andy is finally going home because his talent simply is not up to par compared to the rest of the competitors. This episode was also super emotional, given it was the 20th anniversary, and even though I haven’t seen any other seasons, I found myself tearing up throughout. I’m excited to see how the next few episodes go since we are nearing the finish, and the competitors left are all extremely talented.
Survivor
This week was honestly a bit frustrating. I saw a TikTok about how it’s so annoying they merge for one episode and then by the next, they are splitting them in teams again for the challenge. Don’t get me wrong, it was extremely fun to watch Savannah ride up on the boat with her immunity necklace and stir the pot, but still, why merge if you’re just going to put them in teams again? As well, the group that went to tribal council majorly messed up that vote, because what do you mean nobody voted for Rizzo? I genuinely believe if they stuck to their plan, they could have eliminated him and flushed his idol. To be fair, I like Rizzo, so I’m happy to see him stay, but from a strategic point of view, the rest of them messed up big time. Also, I think it sucks that we know who is on season 50 because it tells me that Savannah and Rizzo are both going to stick around and make some moves so they can make a name for themselves. Knowing this takes away some of the suspense, at least right now while we’re still early in the game.
Love Life
I went home for a few days as it was our reading week, so my mom and I started watching this show. I honestly loved it so much. I have only watched season one so far, but I do plan on watching season two as well. I am going to write an article specifically on season one and the impact it had on my perspective of life in general. Anna Kendrick plays the role of Darby so well that I felt all the emotions she had throughout. Lastly, the storytelling is super interesting because each episode is very self-contained, yet you are still left wanting more.
Reading
A Discovery of Witches by Deborah Harkness
I have only read another 2 chapters of this book, and while I am enjoying it, it is definitely slow going for me right now. I think this book is very different to what I am used to reading (contemporary romance), so I am adjusting to its pacing and narrative structure. I decided to pick up a romance book alongside it, which I know will prolong this book, but I think it’s what I need to ensure I don’t fall into a slump.
City of Bones by Cassandra Clare
According to Libby I am 64% through this book, and I have to return it in 2 days so I am a little worried I won’t finish it. If I don’t, I plan on placing a hold and finishing it whenever I can borrow it again. It’s not the worst thing since this is a reread, plus I knew I wouldn’t get as much of it done this week since I was out of my routine.
The Pumpkin Spice Cafe by Laurie Gilmore
This book is one that’s on my list to read before the end of this year, and it’s a cute fall romance book, so it is exactly what I was looking for. I can’t lie, though, I feel like I am not going to complete the ten books listed because even if I make it to ten, it might not be the ones on the list. Anyway, this book has been amazing so far, even with a bit of insta-love. Honestly, I am loving the atmosphere and the cast of characters we have been introduced to so far. It makes me excited to keep reading this one, as well as continue with the series once I’m finished.
Music
Music wasn’t a major part of my week since I wasn’t at school or the gym. While I did make the three-hour drive home, my aux cord was broken, so I spent it listening to the radio. I did listen to some Colter Wall, and while I have been familiar with him, I haven’t listened to much of his music. I really enjoyed his sound, and will definitely be listening to more.
Animal Crossing

As I mentioned, I went home this week, and while I was there, I found my old 3DS. Of course, I was curious to see if it still worked, so I plugged it in, and a couple of hours later, it was ready to go. Its battery is still very strong, so I have been playing it every day since I got it running. Animal Crossing has been my favourite game for so long, and I have really been wanting to play it again, so finding my DS was honestly the best thing. I restarted my account so I could start fresh, and I am having a blast.
Thanks for reading everyone! Let me know what you consumed this week, and if you watched or read any of the same things I’d love to hear your thoughts. Check out my Instagram and let me know what you would like to see for me.
