Hi everyone!
My name is Hailey and I am a fourth-year student in university and planning to graduate in the spring with a major in English Literature and a minor in Communications and Media Studies. I love reading, reality tv, long walks, Pitch Perfect, hockey, running, Heartland, writing, and country music.

University has been a journey to say the least. I switched my major in my first year, and switched it back as soon as I could in my second, thought I was gonna minor in three different things, debated changing my major completely at the start of my third year, and now I’m in my fourth year preparing to graduate, wondering how I got here. It feels like I blinked and university is now nearly over, which is both happy and sad at the same time. After three years, I feel like I have a lot of advice, which is part of why I decided to start this blog. I want to share what I’ve learned for a few reasons. One, I wish I could tell first-year Hailey all these things, but because I can’t, I want to share them with other students. And secondly, I hope my posts help other university students, and people in general, feel less alone. As you reach the end of your degree it feels like everyone around you has everything figured out, but the reality is, most people are pretending. I hope to pull the curtain back and remind you that it’s okay if you don’t have it all figured out because part of life is learning as you go.

As well, I am an avid reader and have been since I first learned how. I can’t lie, my reading has been up and down throughout university because sometimes after reading all day for school the last thing I want to do is pick up another book. With that being said, I truly do love reading so I hope to continue it and make it a bigger part of my life again. I mostly read contemporary romance books since I can’t resist a happy ending. Some of my favourite authors include: Lyla Sage, Elsie Silver, Hannah Grace, Rebecca Jenshak, Ki Stephens, and Stephanie Archer. Honestly there are probably so many more, but in the past year these authors take the top spots for me.
I am also a lover of tv, specifically of the reality genre. For years I have watched reality tv with my mom and since coming to university watching it has been a comfort that reminds me of nights at home with her. Some of my favourites include Below Deck, Survivor, and Dancing with the Stars. Below Deck is something I have watched for years, although I haven’t watched the most recent couple of seasons due to lack of cable, but I think a new season recently started so maybe I’ll try to catch up. Survivor is another show I have been watching since forever ago and I am obsessed. I am currently watching season 49 as it airs and as per usual am loving it. Unlike those two, Dancing with the Stars is a new favourite and a big part of that is the TikTok marketing from this season. I have never been too interested in the concept of this show, but the celebrities and pros sold me with all their TikToks and I had to watch this year.
Two of my forever favourites are Heartland and Pitch Perfect. The Canadian in me loves to see Heartland and the success it has had over all the years. This is another show that I watched with my mom and while my love for it has extended into its own thing I will always be grateful for the times I watched it with my mom. Despite living in the city my whole life, I’ve always loved the idea of living in a small town, so this show fulfills my small town dreams. Pitch Perfect is a movie that I pretty much know every word to and I will never get sick of it. There is such a comfort to this movie for me, and whenever I am feeling down I know this movie can provide some joy.
I hope you guys enjoyed this get to know me and I’d love to get to know you all better as well! Feel free to leave a comment on this post or head over to my Instagram and introduce yourself there.
