Bookish Quarterly Review 1: January through March

Posted on April 8, 2026April 8, 2026 by hailey.schopper

Hey everyone!

I decided instead of doing a March specific wrap-up, I would do a quarterly review covering everything I read during the first three months of the year. I am really happy with how my reading has gone so far this year and am hoping I can keep the momentum going. My goal for this year is to read 52 books and I am currently at 19 which means I am 6 books ahead of schedule. While I would love to keep reading at this pace, I know there is the potential for a slump at any time, so luckily I have some room to read less given I am ahead.

Books Read

From January to March I read 17 books with an average rating of 4.3/5 stars.

  1. The Holiday Honeymoon Switch by Julia McKay
  2. Holding the Reins by Paisley Hope
  3. Done and Dusted by Lyla Sage
  4. Fourth Wing by Rebecca Yarros
  5. Iron Flame by Rebecca Yarros
  6. Onyx Storm by Rebecca Yarros
  7. Dust Storm by Maggie C. Gates
  8. Downpour by Maggie C. Gates
  9. Luck and Last Resorts by Sarah Grunder Ruiz
  10. The Wingman by Stephanie Archer
  11. Gloves Off by Stephanie Archer
  12. The Wild Card by Stephanie Archer
  13. Middlemarch by George Eliot
  14. Unloved by Peyton Corinne
  15. Fire Line by Maggie C. Gates
  16. Face Off by Chelsea Curto
  17. Powerplay by Chelsea Curto

5 Star Reads

  1. Done and Dusted by Lyla Sage
  2. Gloves off by Stephanie Archer
  3. The Wild Card by Stephanie Archer
  4. Unloved by Peyton Corinne

Series Read

For this section I’ll talk about series I completed, caught up on, or currently started. With that, I will only discuss series that I read more than one book in because it does not make sense to talk about only one book in the series if there are more published.

  1. The Empyrean (1-3)
    • Caught up on published books
  2. Griffith Brothers (1-3)
    • Entire series completed
  3. Vancouver Storm (3-5)
    • Entire series completed
  4. D.C. Stars (1-2)
    • I started this series
    • To be fair I also started the third book in March, but I did not finish it until April

Numbers

Total Books: 17

Total Pages: 7,991

Total Authors Read: 10

Upcoming Next Quarter

Going into the next few months I want to continue my reading streak (currently 168 days strong!) and read books I genuinely enjoy. I don’t DNF books often, but honestly I read a lot of things I enjoy so I don’t have to. With that being said, if I do pick up a book I’m not enjoying I will put it down to ensure I am reading things I love. Reading is a fun hobby for me and I never want it to feel like a chore.

New Releases

  1. Unbound by Peyton Corinne (The Undone, #3)
  2. Heart Racer by Megan Avery
  3. Fever Dream by Elsie Silver (Emerald Lake, #1)
  4. First and Forever by Lynn Painter
  5. West of Forever by Corinne Michaels (Heartstone Ranch, #1)
  6. When Dealing with Dragons by Dana Swift

Back Log

  1. A Tongue so Sweet and Deadly by Sophia St. Germain
  2. Good Girl, Bad Blood by Holly Jackson
  3. The Raven Scholar by Antonia Hodgson
  4. The Trade by Ki Stephens

To be fair, while I am excited about all these books, I make no promises to actually read them next quarter. I am a mood reader to my core so I am not good at having TBR’s. Reading this way is helpful for me though, because it means I always try to read something I am genuinely interested in.

Final Thoughts

Overall, I am extremely happy with how this quarter went and I am happy to say that reading still excites me. I had a slump for close to a year and I never really wanted to get out of it. Last fall I decided I wanted to prioritize reading again. I started slow, but I am so happy I started at all because I am fully in love with reading again and I can’t wait to keep exploring. One of my goals next quarter is to read 5 fantasy (or romantasy) books. I used to love fantasy, so a goal of mine in 2026 is to read more, but I have to be intentional about it otherwise I just stick with contemporary romance.

Thank you for reading! I hope you enjoyed this wrap-up. I know I have been kind of MIA, but honestly I just haven’t had much to write about. I have been thinking about what I want to say and how to shift my blog content, but I haven’t decided exactly what I want to do. As always, thank you for reading and check out my Instagram for more.
